A Decade of Collaboration and Clarity
With over 14 years of dedicated service in Massachusetts public schools, my journey has been defined by a deep commitment to the educational success of every student. I have spent my career in Wellesley, Milton, and Westwood, where I have led and participated in hundreds of IEP and eligibility meetings as both a special educator and team chair.
My professional background is rooted in collaborative leadership. I understand the complexities of the evaluation process and the critical importance of well-prepared communication. This experience has allowed me to bridge the gap between educators and parents, ensuring that every family feels heard and supported.
However, my perspective is uniquely shaped by my own role as a parent. Having navigated the special education system with a child who has complex medical needs and a visual impairment, I have seen firsthand how overwhelming the process can be. This personal experience led me to pursue additional graduate training in Vision Studies, which has further refined my approach to this work.
Today, I offer a collaborative, calm, and non-adversarial approach to consulting. I am not an advocate or a legal representative. Instead, I am a partner in your journey, helping you understand IEPs, evaluation reports, and proposed testing so you can participate confidently and effectively in meetings without unnecessary conflict.
The Parent Perspective
My journey as a parent of a child with complex medical needs and visual impairments was the catalyst for Harrison IEP Consulting. I witnessed firsthand the emotional weight and logistical complexity of navigating the special education system. This experience led me to pursue graduate training in Vision Studies, allowing me to bridge the gap between clinical expertise and parental advocacy. I am not an advocate; I am a collaborator. My approach is rooted in calm, informed communication and a deep understanding of the human side of IEP meetings. I help families find clarity and confidence so they can participate effectively without unnecessary conflict.
